Helped a friend find a job - 59th Day

One of my friend mentioned couple of days ago that, her friend has been having issues to find a good job. It has been tough time for her not being able to find a job for so long. Today I took initiative and sent her details about an opportunity that I am aware of and will follow up with her, until she finds something that suits her needs.

In these tough economic times, please try to help one another to find good opportunities so that people can live a comfortable life and stay happy.

Gave ride to a stranger - 58th Day

Today's weather was brutal in Ottawa, it snowed almost 30 cms, buses were either cancelled or delayed , roads not cleaned up, driving was brutal. When I left work my bus was delayed and then when my husband came to pick me up near another bus stop, I noticed there were tons of people waiting at the bus stop for the bus to come. It was still snowing and windy , they could be waiting there for very long.
I offered to give them a ride and mentioned we had 3 seats in the car and  we could drop them home. Only one person agreed and came with us. Nizar and I dropped him off where he needed to go. It was an awesome feeling to help a stranger and to make it easy for someone.
At tough times , try to do what you can and offer help to people to see if you can make it easy for them.

Held the door - 57th Day

Today since morning I  made sure to hold the door for the person behind me. Going to the coffee place, entering a building, exiting the bank etc. As a courtesy everyone thanked me and smiled at me.

Smiling is contagious and so is helping someone. Holding the door for someone seems very small, but passing that along can bring smile on someone's face even if it is for a short period of time.

Thanked my boss for his support - 56th Day

Thanked my boss for being the greatest boss ever. Thanked him for all his support and concern. Thanked him for all the great teaching and all the things I have learnt from him. Appreciated his patience with me when I was learning and growing. Thanked him for keeping his door always open whenever I needed his help. Thanked him for taking our blame upon him and protecting us from big disasters. Thanked him for being the great boss he is .
Thank you , 2 simple words but it means a lot. Thanking someone for their great help and support can mean that you appreciate what they did for you. Makes them feel that it matters what they did for you. Thank all those people in your lives who made a difference in your life today.

Being there for someone - 55th Day

Thanks to my uncle, we finally got in touch with a cousin whose mom passed away about 15 to 18 years ago , when she was 6 years old and her dad never let us talk to her. Finally today we got the opportunity to get in touch with her, got to hear her voice and after so many years, we found out that she is doing great and is pursuing her Engineering. This was a great moment for us and for her too, as she was touched to know that we still remembered her and we were concerned about her. We even gave her the offer to come over to Canada , live with us and do her further studies. It was really nice to know that she is ok and doing good.
Losing a loved one itself is a big deal at such a small age and on top of that losing all the family member's support must be a shock. Today she got to know that all her family members are there for her if she ever needs us for anything. I made sure she understood that she can contact me anytime she needs, for anything. Just to let her know she was not alone and we are all there beside her, just a phone call or an email away. Hope this empowers her and gives her strength to stand up strong.
Family is a big thing and family's support is basis of life. Knowing that one has someone to lean on , to rely on for support, gives comfort in the thought itself. Be someone's support and be there for when they need you the most.

Emailed people health tips - 54th Day

Emailed friends and family with some important and easy instructions to follow to cleanse once kidneys with parsley.
Home remedies and home solutions are the best way of keeping healthy. I have always tried to keep medications as far as I can from me, and try all these healthy diets, and home remedies to fix any kind of health issues. Today I thought , why not share this with friends and family, so they would benefit with it too.

Massaged leg - 53rd Day

Relief from a chronic pain is mostly massage. A human touch with a gentle massage, heals a lot of things. My husband's leg was twitching a lot and he was in pain. I massaged his leg for some time and made him a little comfortable.
Human touch is an awesome thing, it gives a feeling a of belonging and being loved.

Offered my seat to an elderly - 52nd Day

This morning when I got on the bus, found a very comfy seat and took a seat. Just after couple of stops , saw an elderly person got on the bus and had no seat to sit. I offered mine and made sure he was comfortable. Next 40min on the bus was cheerful :) for me and for him.

Helped stranger find items from top shelf - 51st Day

We were doing groceries this evening at Shoppers and found a lady having difficulty finding a certain flavor of milk. She was unable to see in the top shelf and unable to reach. There was no one around to help her and she was trying to find someone. That's when I approached and helped her find couple of those flavored milk bottles from the top shelf but hidden behind other items and way back. She was really thankful.
Very small gesture of helping someone, but I think a good deed is a good deed, small or big, you make your contribution everyday to make this world a beautiful place to live in.

Appreciated someone's efforts - 50th Day

Today I appreciated the blog writer whose work has really inspired me. When I started this blog, "Good Deed A Day" , I thought it would be a piece of cake , just doing one good deed a day, but in no time I started falling short of ideas. That is when I turned to Google to find my answers. That's when I found this guy who did this similar thing called "Random acts of kindness" for 366 days of the year. I left a note of appreciation on his blog mentioning how he inspired me and how great his blog was.
Appreciation is key to happiness. A real appreciation for someone's work , makes them happy, motivates them and boosts their morale, this is how growth happens.
